Urethral Stricture is a condition mostly found in males and rarely in females.

Urethra – The tube which carries urine out of the body. Stricture – means restriction

Now when a scar/injured tissue which could be caused due to swelling, trauma or an injury blocks or restricts the flow of urine it is called a Urethral Stricture.

Causes

  • Excessive physical exercise or physical exertion
  • Prolonged hours of sitting and driving
  • Suppressing the urge to urinate
  • Drinking water or eating food while the urge to urinate is present
  • Excessive sexual intercourse especially masturbation
  • Exhaustion or Injury to reproductive organs

Signs and Symptoms of Mutramarga Sankocha ( Urethral Stricture )

  • Painful Urination
  • Frequent Urination
  • Less Urination
  • Discolored urine ( Reddish, dark yellow )

Diet for Urethral Sticture

It is recommended to eat healthy vegetarian food and the below foods are very helpful to heal the condition

  • Dhania ( Coriander ) – Coriader leaves and seeds improve the filtration rate of kidneys, thus help in flushing out the toxins, they are cooling in nature and help relieving pain.
  • Cucumber and watermelon have lot of water content, are cooling in nature and help soothe the passage and urinary bladder.
  • Old rice, Mung Dal ( Yellow lentils ), bottle gourd are good for digestion
  • Dates increase sexual strength
  • Coconut water is cooling and contains healthy salts
